Installation Guide
Please read the following instructions carefully before installing JCourier 2000. If you
have, trouble installing JCourier 2000 or any questions, please contact the support
team at
Installing on Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
Installing on Linux
Installing on Solaris
Installing on Unix
Installing on Unix-like operating systems
Installing on all other platforms
Windows Instructions
- After downloading, double-click
jcourier12_win32.exe and follow
the instructions.
- In the
Choose Java Virtual Machine step, make sure to select
Install Sun Java VM specifically for this application . This will install
JRE 1.3 on to your system along with the JCourier 2000 software.
- Press
Install button to start installing the software.
Linux Instructions
- Make sure you have properly installed JRE 1.2 or later on your machine
(JRE 1.3 is preferred). If you have not installed JRE yet, you can download
it from Sun's Java Web Site -
http://java.sun.com/products
- After downloading
jcourier12.bin open a shell and, cd to the directory
where you downloaded the installer.
- At the prompt type:
sh ./jcourier12.bin and follow the instructions on the screen.
Solaris Instructions
- Make sure you have properly installed JRE 1.2 or later on your machine
(JRE 1.3 is preferred). If you have not installed JRE yet, you can download
it from Sun's Java Web Site -
http://java.sun.com/products
- After downloading
jcourier12.bin open a shell and, cd to the directory
where you downloaded the installer.
- At the prompt type:
sh ./jcourier12.bin and follow the instructions on the screen.
Unix Instructions
- Make sure you have properly installed JRE 1.2 or later on your machine
(JRE 1.3 is preferred). If you have not installed JRE yet, you may download
it from Sun's Java Web Site -
http://java.sun.com/cgi-bin/java-ports.cgi
- After downloading
jcourier12.bin , open a shell and,
cd to the directory where you downloaded the installer.
- At the prompt type:
sh ./jcourier12.bin and follow the installation instructions.
Instructions for Unix-like operating systems
- Make sure you have properly installed JRE 1.2 or later on your machine
(JRE 1.3 is preferred). If you have not installed JRE yet, you may download
it from Sun's Java Web Site -
http://java.sun.com/cgi-bin/java-ports.cgi
- After downloading
jcourier12.zip , type
jre -cp jcourier12.zip install
- If that doesn't work, try
jre -classpath [path to]classes.zip:jcourier12.zip install
- If that doesn't work either, on sh-like shells, try
cd [to directory where install.zip is located]
CLASSPATH=[path to]classes.zip:jcourier12.zip
export CLASSPATH
java install
Or for csh-like shells, try
cd [to directory where install.zip is located]
setenv CLASSPATH [path to]classes.zip:jcourier12.zip
java install
- After installation is complete, for launching JCourier, add jcourier.jar
to your class path and start the main class named JCourier
Instructions for all other platforms
- Make sure you have properly installed JRE 1.2 or later on your machine
(JRE 1.3 is preferred). If you have not installed JRE yet, you can download

- In a console window,
change to the directory where you downloaded
jcourier12.zip to before running the installer
- Your operating system may invoke Java in a different way. To start the
installer,
add jcourier12.zip to your CLASSPATH , then start the main class
of the installer named install
- After installation is complete, to launch JCourier, add jcourier.jar
to your class path and start the main class named JCourier
