Configuring the proxy server settings

This is required if you are behind a firewall or in other words, if you are using a proxy server to connect to the remote system. The proxy server will act as a mediator between your local system and the remote system. JFTP currently supports WINGATE proxy server and you have to specify the details of it inorder to connect to a remote system via a proxy server.

To do this -

  1. choose "FTP | Options | Firewall Settings" from the menu bar.
  2. A dialog box will appear (see the snap shot below) asking you the details of your proxy server.
  3. In the "Host" field, specify the host name or the IP address of your proxy server.
  4. In the "Port" field, specify the port number on which the FTP service is running on your proxy server.
  5. When you are done with this, press the OK button to save the settings. You can repeat the same process, when ever you want to change the proxy settings.
